Laurie Ann K. Chan is Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer, responsible for Avalon’s internal operations including human resources, purchasing office administration, training, licensing, and resource allocation.  She has been with Avalon since 2004 and holds a Finance and Marketing degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.  In 2020 she was named one of the 20 for the Next 20 by Hawaii Business Magazine.  She is currently a member of the Building Industry Association of Hawaii, an Accredited Residential Manager through the Institute of Real Estate Management and licensed real estate salesperson in the state of Hawaii.

Laurie Ann K. Chan is Executive Vice President of Finance & Administration and is responsible for Avalon’s internal operations including human resources, purchasing, office administration, training, licensing and resource allocation.

In addition to her administrative role, Laurie works with T-Mobile and is the program lead overseeing site selection, leasing, zoning, permitting and construction activities for the national wireless carrier in Hawaii. Her project management in this area includes:

 

  • Managing the bulk site acquisition program for new site builds as well as modification projects in Hawaii
  • Identifying the feasibility, time frame and scope of work for acquisition of telecommunication facilities
  • Establishing project priorities and goals including budget and schedule limitations
  • Negotiating with the property owner for license fee and terms
  • Working with the legal team to resolve approval issues
  • Managing due diligence activities including title, environmental reports, regulatory reports, lease exhibits and engineering plans required for zoning and building permit approvals
  • Zoning and planning analysis for identified candidates
  • Overseeing the completion of zoning and permit applications for submittal to jurisdictions and coordinates the zoning process
  • Point of contact for community and or government agencies
  • Management of construction manager and general contractors
  • Preparing site close-out packages

 

Laurie’s expertise also includes:

  • Asset Management
    • Maximizing return through analysis of property efficiencies and identifying opportunities for improved performance
    • Negotiating third party contracts
    • Managing cash flow, distribution analysis and investment projections
    • Developing and distributing periodic asset management reports to investors, consultants and other partners
  • Client Representation/Consulting
    • Buyer/Seller representation
    • Due diligence reviews
    • Market research
    • Comparative market analysis and valuation of properties

 

Laurie has been with Avalon since 2004. She holds a Finance and Marketing degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She is currently a member of the Building Industry Association of Hawaii and the Chamber of Commerce Hawaii Young Professionals Program.
